Enjoy the bird chorus, arise early and catch glimpses of the local wildlife. Take a leisurely walk through the 70 acres of Stringybark forest accompanied by Pip the kelpie who will ensure that you don’t get lost, she may even flush out a kangaroo or a deer.

Fishing, where to start? With the Tambo, Mitchell and Nicholson Rivers, Gippsland Lakes, surf fishing on the 90 mile beach or spinning for trout in the cool mountain streams, your choices are endless.

Or if you prefer, within 45 minutes drive are local wineries, galleries of local artists, the famous Buchan Caves, Lakes Entrance and the Gippsland Lakes, the Tambo, Mitchell and Nicholson Rivers, Orbost and the Snowy River, take a cruise on the paddle steamer “Curlip” at Marlo. A day trip to Omeo, Dinner Plain, Mount Hotham and the High Country. Visit any of the National Parks for which East Gippsland is famous, the bush walking is great, visit the Bruthen walking trails and the East Gippsland Rail Trail is 5 minutes down the road, so bring your bikes or contact us prior to your visit and we can organise bike and helmet hire.

A short drive will find you in the village of Bruthen where you will find the local brewery and restaurant, you can sample the hand crafted beers or a gourmet platter of local produce.

Or you could spend your time at Stringybark Cottages, wander around the property and enjoy the bush, bird watching or just sit, read and relax – whatever you choose to do it is just naturally magic.
